Redicare

Overdose kits are coming

The Redicare Overdose Kit and its contents, including two doses of nasal spray naloxone.

Be prepared for opioid overdose with naloxone in your cabinet

We'll be adding an Overdose Kit to every Redicare first aid cabinet by December 12, 2026. The 2026 ANSI workplace first aid standard, which OSHA references as the accepted baseline for supplies, now recommends that all employers stock naloxone, and New York's Labor Law § 27-f now requires it from private employers. With similar regulations anticipated across other states, we want every client's program ahead of the compliance curve. Regulations aside, overdose can happen anywhere, and to anyone, with prescription or recreational opioids.  Each kit includes two doses of naloxone nasal spray and supporting supplies to temporarily reverse an opioid overdose while you wait for EMS to arrive.

If you can confirm that you already stock naloxone and do not want Redicare to supply and service Overdose Kits, please complete this form and one of our team members will confirm that you are eligible to opt out.

Go further than the kit

Responder Bag

Aside from a phone to call 911, Redicare Responder Bags are the best thing to reach for in a first aid emergency. This grab-and-go bag contains 12 specialized modules for various emergencies, including opioid overdose, with intuitive labeling and instructions for any bystander to use. You can even optionally include an AED to have all your life-saving supplies on hand when you need them.

Training

The new ANSI/ISEA standard recommends that all employers train their employees in recognizing and responding to an opioid overdose in addition to stocking naloxone. We can tailor our first aid training for any workplace hazard or risk, including overdose response.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is naloxone?

Naloxone is a medication that temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. It works by blocking opioids from binding to receptors in the brain, restoring normal breathing in someone whose breathing has slowed or stopped due to opioid exposure. It takes effect within minutes and is safe to administer even if you're not certain an overdose is occurring — it won't harm someone who hasn't taken opioids. Naloxone is available without a prescription and is the active ingredient in Narcan, a common brand of naloxone nasal spray.

When will my overdose kit(s) be installed, and will it affect my service schedule?

Overdose Kits will be installed during your usual monthly service in November, 2026. In most cases, installation won't require any changes to your service schedule. If it does, we'll contact you directly to arrange a visit. If you have any questions about your location or service dates, contact our customer service team.

How does the price increase affect me if I’m paying annually?

The increased service charge will be prorated from the installation date of your overdose kits for the remainder of your current paid service period. We'll send a separate invoice for the prorated amount. Whether you're paying monthly or annually, your next service period will be billed at the new price.

What if I already stock naloxone?

If you already have naloxone on hand, we can help you determine if you have the right number of doses and that it’s easily accessible when it’s needed. We can also provide training to build confidence in recognizing and responding to an opioid overdose. If you don’t want to add Overdose Kits to your first aid cabinets, you can request to opt out via this form.

Am I eligible to opt out of adding the Overdose Kit?

If you already stock enough naloxone and it’s as readily accessible as the rest of your first aid supplies, please complete this form and we’ll review to confirm that you’re prepared to respond to an opioid overdose.

If I am eligible to opt out of the Overdose Kit, will I still receive a price increase?

Yes. The service price increase applies to all locations, whether or not they receive an Overdose Kit. It reflects changes in our operating costs since our last price update in 2022, and it takes effect with your November service.
